The root chakra is warm and associated with our physical needs and the will to survive. It is the color of passion and energy. Red draws attention like no other and radiates a strong and powerful energy. It represents sexuality and lust.


Red is the color of physical movement and awakens our physical life force. It is fast-moving, very active, promotes action and movement. Red can provide confidence to those who are shy or lacking in willpower.


It is strong-willed and demands us to take notice, alerting us to danger. Red is stimulating, invigorating, sexual, exhilarating, and exciting. However, too much red can also be intimidating, irritable, and cause hyperactivity.

The challenge is to learn to connect to your true self driven by assimilation.

Positive Archetypal Expression of Red


Those with a positive expression of red are dominant, confident, assertive, reflective, and ingenious. They usually have strong family ties, are generous and welcoming. Red archetypes are risk-takers, love companionship, and excel in sports and athletics.


They enjoy luxury, fortune, and material success. Red archetypes are all about environmental safety and security. They have impressive libidos. Red archetypes want to win; they pursue goals with intensity and are hardworking.


They live in the moment, are outgoing, upbeat, thrive on attention, and need diversity. Red archetypes find achievement equals happiness. They represent the creation of life. Red archetypes are generally shy people who are relatively neutral.


They are all about being true to themselves. Red archetypes may need to get away and rediscover their energy.


Negative Archetypal Expression of Red


Those with a negative expression of red command attention, exhibit bullying behaviors, and stubbornness. They are impulsive, dramatic, and reckless. They are generally workaholics, not deep thinkers, and leap before looking.


Red archetypes are quick-tempered and can suffer financial loss. They have difficulty opening up, lead destructive lives, and need to learn self-control.

Red represents primal power, strength, and passion. It motivates a strong instinct to take action. Red can create life with its sexual energy, stimulating deeper intimate passions like love and sex within us.


Red stimulates physical senses and desire in all its forms, like deep sexual and intimate passion, craving, and physical appetite. It increases our physical energy levels, heart rate, and blood pressure, and promotes the release of adrenaline.


It can make it hard to sit still and may promote violence, fight-or-flight responses, or friction.


Mentally


Red is responsive, grabs focus, and lessens mistrust, assists with willpower, and re-energizing. It is a powerful masculine energy with a pioneering spirit. Red has leadership qualities, promotes ambition and determination.


It can present as single-minded and strong.


Emotionally:


Red excites the emotions, elicits powerful feelings of love, courage, and compassion. It stimulates the deeper passions within us, such as sex, love, courage, hatred, or revenge.


Red can also present negatively as feelings of weariness, stress, irritability, anger, aggression, or even rage. It represents belief and undertaking in passionate love or passionate hate.


Spiritually


Red is considered mother earth and is grounding. It is known as the root chakra and represents raw life force, pure energy, life vitality, and belonging. This would represent an innocent young soul in need of worldly experience.


Red symbolizes high spiritual vibrations, the Divine, and one life force.


Aromatherapy


When using aromas on the skin, be sure to combine with a suitable base.


Rose, Patchouli, Ylang-ylang, and Vetiver are empowering and invigorating for overall stimulation and motivation. They are great for mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual exhaustion, are grounding, and build confidence. In the morning, place a few drops on the soles of your feet, lower back region, and/or on your base chakra to keep you centered and rooted.
